The climb

What happened?

It suddenly stopped. I should not have stop. Its the only thing that calms me down...I am not sure why I suddenly decided not to make them anymore. I can't help but to feel that there is something pretentious about the photos that I've made.....May be that is the reason.

One thing for sure, I am more restless now...I need to feel something that I felt before. The moment when everything just stopped, the moment when I held my breath and yet I never felt so alive.

Titiwangsa - Sunset

An old photo I digged up from my archieve.... I was there with a friend of mine all evening and I took this picture just before we packed to leave. It is the only picture that I personally like from that day.

Visual Art Compositional Schemes

Composition, putting things together, arrangement of objects and all that jazz.

The rule of third, unless you are not into visual art you might heard of this rule a few thousand times before and if you are into visual art and never heard of it...well....I am sorry..you are not really into visual art.

Basically the rule stated that you are not supposed to put your object of interest, horizontal line and vertical line dead centre on the frame. So where should you put it? ( Let me just say that there is nothing wrong with putting your subject dead centre, we’ll discuss more on this later on)

Here is a photo, this could also be an example of triangular composition but that is another entry. It’s not a good example but here it is:

Noticed the red lines that crossed each other all over the photo? Where the red lines crossed are where you subject should be placed, in this case it is the oil barrel. Why it should be placed there? It is to create the sense of space and depth for this particular picture. The rule of third could also be used to portray a sense of movement.

Bear in mind there are other factors to the arrangements of subjects. Pay particular attention to your foreground and background as well. Putting subject off-centre doesn’t guarantee a good picture. Remember, it’s the elements in a picture and how it compliments each other.

Well, that is all I have for now. We’ll discuss about other pictorial compositional schemes later ( a lot later).

With love...

I was asked a few days ago by a friend of mine, "if you are not making anything out of this, why do it?". I just said I don't know, simply because I don't think any person who asked that kind of question could really understand.

The whole conversation started when I was suggested that I do wedding photography. Why I don't do wedding photography? Well, I am not good enough. That is it.
I am not going to monetized what I love doing if I am not good at it. It is wrong to get paid to do something that you are not sure you are good at. I just can't do it...It is wrong on so many levels.
I knew a guy who is so sure that he is good at producing videos and is about to start his own production company, yet he don't even understand the basic concept of depth-of-field. Unbelievable!!
